Team Ninja is offering an exciting glimpse into the immersive world of Rise of the Ronin, set to release in just over a month. In a captivating video and a blog post on PlayStation, the developers provide a detailed tour of the game’s setting, showcasing their faithful depiction of 1800s Japan.
Rise of the Ronin presents players with three remarkable cities: Yokohama, Edo (modern-day Tokyo), and Kyoto. These open-world environments combine Western and Japanese cultures, resulting in a vibrant clash that adds depth and intrigue to the game. The PlayStation Blog post not only showcases the awe-inspiring landscapes and locations where players can discover valuable loot, but also outlines the various modes of traversal available. From a versatile grappling rope that can be used to scale heights and even grab enemies during battles, to the convenience of horseback travel for covering long distances efficiently – options abound for every player’s preference.
Among these exciting features, the gliders truly stand out. Inspired by the ancient Japanese inventor and gunsmith Kunitomo Ikkansai’s blueprint of Abikiru, these gliders offer players a thrilling and unique experience. Team Ninja is proud to share that this blueprint is considered the oldest airplane design in Japan, adding an incredible historical touch to the game.
In addition to the main storyline, players will have the opportunity to engage in various side activities. By taking on Somo missions provided by locals, they can strengthen relationships within the community and contribute to enhancing security in dangerous areas by defeating rogue elements. These side quests promise to add depth and rich storytelling to the overall gameplay experience.
As previously disclosed, Rise of the Ronin is set during the tumultuous late 19th century Edo period, characterized by a devastating civil war. Players will be thrust into this chaotic historical backdrop, with the chance to navigate the treacherous landscape and make their mark on the future.
Prepare to embark on an extraordinary adventure when Rise of the Ronin exclusively releases on PlayStation 5 on March 22.
